I’ve known Maman Danielle for about twenty years now, and let me tell you, she’s one of a kind! She’s the type of person who’s always there when you need her, ready to lend a hand, give advice, or just make things happen.

If you’ve ever worked with her, you know she doesn’t play when it comes to details. Everything has to be very neat, organized, and just right, and trust me, she’ll notice the one tiny thing you missed! It’s like she has a built-in microscope in her eyes. But that’s what makes her amazing. When she does something, she gives it her all and wants it done perfectly.

She’s strong willed, determined, and full of heart. You can always count on her, no matter what. She’s one of those people who makes life brighter just by being around.

So happy 70th, Maman Danielle. Keep being the wonderful, detail loving, big hearted woman we all adore!

Joyeux Anniversaire, Maman!

I don’t think there are enough words in the world to express how much I love you and how much you mean to me. You’ve been my biggest supporter, my cheerleader, my comfort during tough times, and my guide when I’ve felt undecisive. You’ve taught me about love, strength, patience, and kindness—not through lectures or one way conversations, but by living it every single day. You’ve shown me how to love without expecting anything in return, how to be strong without being hard, how to be patient without being passive, and how to be selfless without loosing your integrity.

Some daughters may say “I will never be my mother”, but I will be lucky to become half the incredible woman you are! I already make my coffee excactly the way you do; I also interrupt a task I am already doing to clean that speck of dirt I just noticed on cabinets/doors otherwise it will bother me; I clean the kitchen counter 100x a day; I already recount events/stories by going into multiple tangents! hahaha so I am well on my way! I will always cherish our wonderful conversations that somehow always end up in pure ecstatic laughter until our ribs hurt and tears start flowing!

You are also the superhero grandma to our two beautiful girls. You always make them feel so special, so loved and so safe. Your warm hugs, your gentle voice (even when you are upset at their behavior), your bedtime stories, your wisdom and laughter are all the things they will treasure forever.

Thank you for the quiet sacrifices you’ve made, the lessons you’ve taught me, and the love you’ve enveloped us with. Thank you for being my amazing mom and role model. On your special day, I hope you feel even a fraction of the love that you give to others. You deserve all the happiness in the world, and it’s my solemn prayer that this year our Almighty Father God brings you peace, joy and health and everything your heart desires.

I first met Danielle in 2005 when I began working at the Belmont Library. From the very beginning, she was more than just a supervisor, she became a mentor, a confidante, and, over time, a dear friend. For ten years, I had the privilege of working under her guidance. Danielle was not only a leader but also a steady, supportive presence who offered advice that was always thoughtful, practical, and grounded in kindness.

To me, Danielle has truly been like a mother figure, always there when I needed her, whether for professional guidance or personal support. There were so many times when I had no one to pick up my daughter (and even my niece and nephew) from school, and Danielle would let me leave work without hesitation. Her understanding and compassion during those moments meant more than I can ever fully express.

Even after I moved on from Belmont and Danielle retired from the New York Public Library, our bond remained strong. That kind of lasting connection is rare, and I treasure it deeply.

It is an incredible blessing to celebrate this milestone with someone who has meant so much to me. Danielle, your wisdom, warmth, and unwavering support have left a lasting imprint on my life. Thank you for being who you are, an extraordinary person and an even more extraordinary friend.

Danielle has been one of the biggest blessings in my life. When she was my manager, she saw potential in me long before I did. She kept encouraging me to go back to school, and I, being the stubborn person I am, came up with excuse after excuse. Honestly, I had enough excuses to write a whole book. Most people would’ve said, “Okay, you clearly don’t want this” and walked away. But not Danielle. Nope. She stayed on repeat, encouraging me, pushing me, reminding me what I was capable of, until I finally gave in.

Fast forward seven years, and there I was, walking across the stage with my Master’s degree. And the funny part? She inspired me so much that I went back for a second Master’s! Imagine that, the queen of excuses can’t stop now, all because Danielle refused to let me quit on myself.

She has this gift of not letting you settle for less than your best, even when you’re trying really hard to talk her into it. She never bought into my excuses (and I had a LOT of them), and she made sure I never forgot that I was capable of more.

But Danielle’s impact didn’t stop with me. I’ve seen her walk miles for people over and over again. She’s been there for my family too, watching my kids grow up and encouraging them just like she did for me. She’s shown up in ways that only someone with a true heart could.

She started out as my manager, but she became “Mama Danielle”—and Mama Danielle doesn’t play. She’ll cheer you on, call you out, and push you past your comfort zone, all while being a light in your life. I can’t thank her enough for never giving up on me, even when I was doing my best to make her.

I want to take a moment to honor someone truly special, a friend/big sister, our very own Tata Dany,  who has shown up for all of us time and time again, without hesitation and without fail.

In a world where people are often too busy or too caught up in their own lives, she has made it her priority to be present. Whether it’s a moment of celebration or a time of struggle, she’s there, not because she has to be, but because that’s simply who she is. She shows up with open arms, a listening ear, and a heart full of compassion.

What makes her so remarkable isn’t just her availability, but the genuine care she brings every single time. She doesn’t just offer her presence; she offers her whole self. She remembers the details, whether it is for setting up an event or just being present. She asks the right questions, and somehow always knows exactly what we need, even when we don’t know ourselves.

She’s the friend who drops everything when you need her, who celebrates your victories as if they were her own, and who sits with you in the darkness without trying to rush you toward the light. She’s proven over and over that true friendship isn’t about grand gestures, it’s about consistency, loyalty, and showing up when it matters most.

To my dear Tata Dany: Thank you for being our anchor, our cheerleader, and our safe place. Thank you for teaching us what it means to truly be there for someone. You’ve touched our lives in ways you may never fully realize, and we are so incredibly grateful for you.

I am very sorry I could not be there to celebrate with you for reasons you know, but I will take a rain check on this one!

Joyeux 70e anniversaire ! Aujourd’hui, on célèbre une femme exceptionnelle, dont la présence éclaire nos vies depuis tant d’années. Tu as traversé le temps avec élégance, force, et cette générosité qui nous enveloppe comme un doux matin.
Tu as l’art de guider sans imposer, d’offrir sans attendre, et de créer autour de toi un monde où chaque détail compte — comme ton café, préparé avec tant de soin. I know Danielle Youmeni from 17 years was working at the New York Public Library. The best supervisor I ever had she was warm kind and very understaning and encouraging. She become my friend when she leaves the library not my manager. I love her so much for her nurturing relationship we share ❤️

Maman Danny, Tata Danielle, Tantine Danielle, autant d’appellations qui conviennent à toi seule. Tu souffles aujourd’hui sur ta 70eme bougie. Cela fait tant d’année que tu es ma sœur de coeur. Le mot qui te définit le mieux est: “sure”. Oui, tu es une personne sûre, avec qui on peut compter. Quel bonheur et quel privilège de partager ce chemin avec toi! It’s not easy the testimonies to a special woman because i don’t have the real words. She’s more than special, she’s a grace. Some people walk into your live and leave a deep mark. Tata Dany is one of those, her presence has changed a lot for me. She lifted me up when i was in my darkest moment, when all i could do was cry. She reminded me of the beauty of life. She don’t only offers words, she offers comfort, strengh and truth. Thank you for that Tata Dany.
She’s loving person, her love is honest and real, full of love in her action and words. She has words for healing. Her kindness it’real, not for show. Her kindness makes me feel loved.
